![]() These Ghosts will stick around until you’re dead, or you retreat back to the relative safety of the Crater. A second Ghost will spawn in another thirty seconds, and a third thirty seconds after that. Once you venture inside, your PDA will comment on an “ecological deadzone”, and an adult Ghost Leviathan will spawn nearby. This is the “out-of-bounds” area, which marks the end of the playable map. This location is the Void, or the World’s Edge if you prefer. Ghost Leviathans can also be encountered in another place, but it’s one you shouldn’t be venturing into anyway. ![]() Like the Reapers, Ghosts can be relocated if they chase you into a different biome, though they should make their way home eventually. They can be found in two biomes within the Crater, with two in the Grand Reef and one in the Northwest Blood Kelp Zone. Even worse, they are much, much quieter than the Reapers, so you’re liable to receive a very nasty surprise visit if one spots you from a distance.Īdult Ghost Leviathans, thankfully, are quite few in number. Ghost Leviathans are almost twice the size of Reapers, deal 84 damage per hit, and are hyper-aggressive. You’ll encounter the adult Ghost Leviathans soon enough, and these deepsea specters are a force of nature indeed. If the juveniles gave you the impression that Ghost Leviathans were pushovers, you’re about to have a rude awakening. Sustained attacks from the Reaper will destroy both of these vehicles, so you’ll need to quickly decide whether to fight or flee. A Prawn Suit and Cyclops are able to take a lot more punishment, but you’ll still want to deal with the threat quickly. They can also seriously damage the Seamoth, with each bite taking off roughly 50% of its durability. Without any upgraded defenses, Reapers can deal 80 damage to the player, with an insta-kill animation if you are at 80 health or below. Reapers can be a terrifying sight and sound to behold, and they’ve got a severe bite to back up that bark. Relocated Reapers should return home soon after abandoning a chase, however. Reapers can also drift in and out of biomes if given a reason to, such as spotting a nearby diver. Reapers are most densely populated in the Aurora’s Crash Zone, the Dunes, and the Mountains, though there are also a couple in the Bulb Zone. In addition to the ones near the Aurora, there are a total of 25 Reapers in Subnautica. Just remember, if you can hear them, they can see you. One lurks near the ship’s stern and one near the bow, and you’ll probably be well-acquainted with both before long. The first Reapers you’re likely to see, or more accurately hear, are the ones patrolling the murky waters near the Aurora. These sea scourges lurk all over the Crater, being present in a good portion of Subnautica’s biomes. The Reaper needs no introduction, likely being the first aggressive Leviathan you will encounter. This base however is purely for lore purposes and does not appear in-game.With the passive Leviathans out of the way, it’s on to the main attractions. In the cinematic trailer, it is revealed that Bart Torgal built himself a Seabase in what appears to be the Crash Zone or Safe Shallows. Spoiler alert: The following section contains story related material. ![]() It requires a radiation suit and ideally should be done with a Seamoth, as there is a radiation field around the perimeter. The "landing" inside is shallow enough to provide some safety for embarking and disembarking. If attempting to enter the Aurora, it only takes a brief trip through deeper waters, although a Reaper Leviathan can frequently be found west of the entrance. The safest way to cross the Crash Zone is to follow the Safe Shallows as close as possible, then stick to the shallowest parts of the area. ![]() This small area contains a good amount of Limestone and Sandstone Outcrops. The harvesting nodes typically found in the area makes this biome a good source for raw crafting materials.Ī portion of the Bulb Zone goes into the Crash Zone, near Aurora's front section. The biome makes up for this, however, with a wide variety of fauna, most of which being predatory - including the dangerous Reaper Leviathans. The Crash Zone possesses a distinct sandy, murky tint of water, and is nearly devoid of Flora, though the western part that borders the Safe Shallows shares some of its flora. Also, flocks of Skyrays populate this area. There is a large amount of dry land on the eastern side of the Aurora which has plenty of debris and Metal Salvage. The Crash Zone is located on the easternmost part of the map, surrounded by a Kelp Forest, Safe Shallows, the Bulb Zone, a Mushroom Forest, the Crag Field, and a Grassy Plateaus.
